Here is one of my first logos that I have made.  I am trying different ways to expand my design knowledge and this is one that I find to be really fun to make.  This one is for sale for $40.

NWC90er Emote design.

I started getting into emote design, and this is one I did for a client on twitch.tv/NWC90er.

How Mario has changed.

Can you believe it? Mario has been around since I want to say 1981 with the release of DonkeyKong.

I remember playing that game in arcade rooms before I owned any console. Of course, I wasn’t born till 1986. One of the earlier games before this was “Jump Man”.

Mario is a big influence in my life and many others, but for me, Mario is one of the reasons why I love video games today and even drawing and art. I remember drawing Mario many times when I was younger.

In 1983 there were Mario bros,

I was pretty young when this game was out so I didn’t get much out of it but today I love going back in time to play some retro games. 🙂

A little while later in 1985 came in Super Mario Brothers.

I was able to play this game on the Wii U, and I see streamers on twitch.tv play it all the time. Still is an amazingly fun game today in 2017.

In the year if 1988 Super Mario 3 came out.

I remember really liking this game, being able to fly, go behind walls blew my mind.  Was a really fun experience.

Let’s skip ahead we know in 1990 Super Mario World came out, 1995 Super Mario 64 got released which by the way is still an awesome game!

But today in 2017 we are looking forward to Mario odyssey

Look how Mario himself changed!

He has new abilities, a lot more he can do with his hat. Yes, I said his hat 🙂 This will become available for the Nintendo switch, I cannot wait to play this game. But again it amazes me that the old games of Mario like Mario 64 or Mario bros are still just as fun to play. It shows your how much he has evolved but still remains as some really good classic games back in the day.

Are you looking forward to Mario odyssey as much as I am?

YouTube New Logo.

Youtube’s old logo.

It’s amazing how a big company like youtube logo can change and I didn’t honestly even noticed at first.

Here is the new logo to date.

They kept the same font, changed the red behind “Tube” and made it over to the left of “YouTube” and added a play button over it. Now personally I like the old logo, maybe it’s because I am used to it more? People are saying that YouTube is not what it used to be with people

People are saying that YouTube is not what it used to be with people losing in revenue, and just not able to make that money from it as they did before, but I don’t think that should stop people from still creating amazing content on youtube. I try it myself from time to time. I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject and what you think of the new vs. old logo.

How to stay motivated as a creative person.

Honestly, this may be one of the toughest things to do as a designer or developer. I will put down what I do to stay motivated to keep on creating.

As a designer, I try to find websites to keep on creating new things. Such as https://www.threadless.com/, and https://99designs.com/. It helps me keep my skills updated, also try to stream on twitch.tv and make art for people who watch.

A good strong community can help you along your journey, competitions keep you a stronger designer. Don’t be afraid to fail, I have failed many times and will keep on failing. What makes you a great designer is to keep on pushing and you will find success.

Don’t be afraid to try different styles, you never know what your good at until you try.

How to make Emotes for twitch.tv

Here is a good guide for you to follow on to making a emote for twitch.tv.  https://help.twitch.tv/customer/en/portal/articles/2348985-partner-emoticon-and-badge-guide

But let me break it down for you, first you need to make sure it is your own artwork, or if you commission another to make one for you.  Which there are a lot of awesome artists out there to do just that.

Step 1:

Come up with an idea, best ways for me to go about this is to think of what people like to use most.

For example, Love, Shy, Hype, Fail, Hey, R.I.P.

For twitch.tv as long as it is your artwork you can come up with emotes that has copyright like Mario, Zelda, sonic etc.

But some streamers find it better to not have any copyright material in the emotes so you can print them as a t-shirt/hoodie and merchandise them.

Step 2:

You will need a program to create the artwork.

Paid programs: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.

Free programs: Inkscape, https://designer.io/#hero, https://vectr.com/.

Step 3: Make sure to get your size correct. On twitch.tv they have 3 sizes to save the emotes. 112×112, 56×56, 28×28.

Step 3:

Make sure to save the image as a .png format.

Step 4:

As of this writing, you can have Global emotes as a twitch affiliate or partner. Once you upload you have to wait for approval as an affiliate but partners I believe get instant approved.

If you found this helpful in any way, please feel free to help share this blog, or leave a comment down below. Anything helps. 🙂
