User Interviews

I conducted user interviews with four diverse participants to gain deeper insights into their goals, frustrations, and pain points associated with shopping at a resale store. By collecting and analyzing this valuable information, I subsequently developed an affinity map to discern their specific needs and expectations for a resale store website.

Interview Findings

From my interviews, it became evident that many individuals enjoy the act of shopping to discover new and enticing items. Whether it's to fulfill specific needs like affordable clothing or to seek out valuable collectibles, various stores offer enticing opportunities.

Pain points

During my interviews, a recurring concern I discovered was the challenge of managing a budget that offers little flexibility. Finding intriguing items can be difficult due to limited information about their history, while navigating cluttered resale stores can further complicate the quest for specific items.

Comparative & Competitive analysis

I performed a comprehensive comparative and competitive analysis of three resale websites that I believed would provide valuable insights for the current website I am developing. While evaluating these platforms, I observed variations in the ease of item discovery and product presentation. These observations have inspired strategies to enhance the user experience and optimize our website for a competitive edge.

User Persona

I created a persona to encapsulate the characteristics of our target audience. Allow me to introduce Linda Thompson, a woman in her late 40s. Linda is married and a mother of two. She pursues a career as a freelance writer, which often keeps her working from the comfort of her home. Linda values the experience of visiting physical stores, where she seeks a higher level of customer service and assistance. However, due to her busy schedule, she often finds herself with limited time for shopping at local resale stores.

Branding

To maintain a consistent and cohesive brand identity for the resale project, I began by incorporating the existing logo. However, I opted to extend this visual theme by adopting the colors from the logo and integrating them into the website's color palette. This choice not only established visual harmony but also enabled the creation of custom iconography that resonates with the overall look and feel of the resale website. Additionally, I paid careful attention to typography selection, ensuring that it aligned with the brand's personality, and maintained consistency across various elements, including buttons and other user interface components.

I initiated the process by developing a sitemap for the website, enhancing the organization of web pages and establishing clear linkages between them. This enabled a more precise comprehension of the information hierarchy governing the site's structure.

Mid-fideality Wireframes

I began the design process by creating initial sketches for the wireframe. As I progressed, I transitioned to mid-fidelity wireframes, guided by a clearer direction based on my sketches. This allowed me to delve deeper into the design, gaining a better understanding of how I envisioned the final appearance of the website.

High-fideality Wireframes

I developed high-fidelity wireframes, which will serve as valuable tools for gathering feedback during usability testing. These wireframes will also play a crucial role in providing insights for refining future iterations of the project.

Usability Test

I actively sought feedback from fellow designers to enhance the overall user experience, honing in on specific aspects for improvement. Among the various elements evaluated, it became evident that the Donation page and the Photos page required the most attention. The feedback highlighted key areas where enhancements could significantly impact user engagement and satisfaction:

Donation Page:

  • Streamlining the donation process

  • Improving user guidance and instructions

  • Enhancing visual appeal for a more inviting experience

Photos Page:

  • Optimizing image presentation and layout

  • Ensuring a seamless and visually pleasing browsing experience

  • Incorporating features that encourage user interaction

By addressing these focal points, we aim to create a more user-friendly and visually appealing platform. Your feedback and insights are invaluable as we work towards an enhanced and enriched design.
